About Me

My name is Kim and I've been accused of being obsessed with running.  It's true.  I'm a thirty-something who is also a wife, and a mom to 3 young kids.  I've always loved being active and playing sports.  I'm a P90X, P90X2, and Insanity grad and I've recently added triathlons into the mix.  I supplement my running with yoga and lots of core work.  I love pounding the pavement and I don't see myself slowing down anytime soon!

Running History

I've always loved running.  I did track and field in high school and continued to run and lift weights all through college at ASU (Go Devils!).  After I got married I still ran almost every day, but never more than 3 miles.  It just seemed like I could never get past that wall.  I finally signed up for my first 10K and never looked back.  I couldn't believe how good it felt to run that far!

I signed up for a half-marathon on a whim with one of my sisters.  Neither of us knew a single person who had ever completed one, and we didn't really know anything about them, after all this was before blogs, facebook, and twitter.  Crossing the finish line was such a proud moment.  I immediately turned to my sister and said, "I want to run a marathon now!"  She did not share in my sentiments, and hasn't run since!

Fast forward a few years and races, I was going to start training for my first marathon when I (joyfully) found out I was pregnant.  For the next 6 years I was either pregnant or nursing.  Needless to say my running took a backseat while I juggled motherhood, teaching, and an IT band injury that stopped me in my tracks.

With lots of physical therapy and early morning runs, I did it...I finally finished my first marathon!  And I immediately knew it wouldn't be my last.
